A Sackcloth Offering from Me’ira Gale
I believe in “wear your prayer” so I created this piece. It’s made of sackcloth to show our mourning. And mourning is not enough. It must show the vision of the world in which we wish to live. The red thread is for gender rights; the green thread is for reproductive rights; the blue thread is for a healthy Mother Earth; the gold thread is for justice for everyone; the white thread is for the transformation and reintegration of white nationalists; the orange thread is for an end to gun violence; the purple thread is for the elevation of human consciousness; and the pink thread is for the spreading of love throughout the world. It is fastened with a safety pin so that we may safely achieve our visions.
Me’ira Gale is a spiritual teacher, mystic activist, and cognitive counselor. She is student of Kabbalah, embodied movement, Chinese Medicine, healing arts, the sacred feminine, food-as-medicine, Hebrew, Arabic, and life. She retired following a 40-year career as a speech-language pathologist and brain injury expert. She lives in Vienna, Virginia with her parakeet, Aliyah.
